At Praxis Clinical, we believe in the power of knowing your own body and being able to teach people about theirs, and we believe that when a diverse group of people takes that confidence out into the world and shares it all our lives improve. Personally, becoming a gynecological teaching associate was one of the best things I ever did, and completely changed both my relationship with my body and the course of my life.
So of course, we’re very excited to announce the dates of our summer reproductive health CTA certification program! The full CTA-RH certification is divided into three parts over four days, and we’ll be running two full sessions: August 13th-16th, and August 27th-30th. Both sessions take place at Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, CT.
You can mix and match dates for the different parts if necessary, and you can choose to take only some parts if your goal is to lead self-exam workshops or simply deepen your own knowledge. To teach clinical skills to medical students and other health professionals you must complete all three parts and be certified as a gynecological teaching associate or an andrological teaching associate.
The objective of this training is to gain a comprehensive knowledge of reproductive and sexual health, and learn how to teach others about it using your own body. We invite people of any gender, anatomy, and ability to join us. We will do everything possible to accommodate the training to your body and your needs.
The event links above have more information about the training, and both have a link to a scholarship application you can fill out if the cost is prohibitive for you. We will do our best to work with people to make the certification affordable. If you want to know a bit more about what it’s like to work as a CTA, you can read the essay I wrote for Buzzfeed earlier this year. (It’s specific to teaching gynecology, but the generals are the same no matter what your anatomy.)
And of course, feel free to contact us with questions you have about the certification, your participation in it, being a CTA, or anything else you think of! You can reach us here or through any of our many social media accounts, or you can email firstname.lastname@example.org.
